The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem

Welcome from Archbishop Suheil, 14th Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem

Welcome to the website of the Diocese of Jerusalem. I hope you will find it informative and interesting and I encourage you to engage with our work and mission here in the Middle East.

The Diocese of Jerusalem covers five countries and is home to almost thirty parishes. Our healthcare and education ministries are active and growing across the region with the provision of hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and schools. Alongside these ministries the Diocesan Peace and Reconciliation department continues to work at strengthening the interfaith dialogue with our fellow Jews and Muslims. Our Kids4Peace programme in turn strives to educate the next generation in a language of tolerance and acceptance.

Archbishop Suheil, Bishop Hosam, and Director Ibrahim Faltas welcomed the Honorable Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, the newly appointed Representative of the European Union, to the Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre on the Mount of Olives. There, he received a tour of the Centre's state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities that annually serve more than 1,300 children with disabilities, including 173 students (38%) who are also part of the attached Inclusive School. Afterwards, the group discussed the many funding challenges facing the Centre because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, which has led to a shortfall of charitable contributions that normally comprise about 30% of JPBC's budget. Please keep the Centre's ministry in your prayers and also consider making a personal or institutional donation in support their crucial work with these needy children and their families!
