His Majesty King Abdullah II receives Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, head of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and leaders of Anglican churches from around the world

The Primates had an audience with King Abdullah II of Jordan, who has been a strong supporter of the Christian presence in his Kingdom (including Jordan's generous acceptance of Christian refugees), as well as a protector of the Holy Sites. This includes Christ's Baptismal Site on the River Jordan, where we met.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, thanked the King for his support and also highlighted the Christian ministry of the Anglican Communion around the world, including in the Diocese of Jerusalem.

Afterwards, we shared a traditional Jordanian meal with the King, eating side by side with representatives from the different denominations and religions inside his Kingdom.
