THE HOLY LAND INSTITUTE FOR THE DEAF - located in the “Holy Land Close”, it is primarily a place for the rehabilitation, education and training of Deaf, hard-of-hearing and deafblind children. Eight departments operate under the umbrella of the Institute:  School, Vocational Training, H.E.A.R., Sign Language, Deafblind, S.T.R.I.D.E., Outreach and BEIT SALEEM/ Jofeh centre. Each of the departments is specialised in a particular aspect of a broad spectrum of services provided.

MISSION - The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf aims to enable hard-of-hearing, Deaf and deafblind people to participate meaningfully in family and community and to make their unique and valuable contributions to an inclusive society.
VISION - The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf provides and develops high quality, comprehensive, effective and efficient, local (Salt)- national (Jordan)- and regional (Middle East) services. Among services are Education of the Deaf, Audiology and hearing aid services, Knowledge management, Teacher training, Development of skills and values, Production of educational materials and resources.
HISTORY - The Institute was established in 1964 as a small school for deaf children. Since then the Institute has been in an almost continual state of expansion, trying to meet some of the great needs in Jordan and the Middle East.
SCHOOL - The school provides four levels of education, from kindergarten through elementary and preparatory to secondary school. Finishing secondary school successfully will qualify Deaf students for college or university.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING - Full participation in family and community requires more than formal education. In the Vocational Training department young people with disabilities learn skills that will enable them to participate in gainful employment.
H.E.A.R. – (Hearing Aids, Ear molds, Audiology and Resources) - provides much-needed audiology services for the poorer sector of the population who have no medical insurance and cannot afford to be treated privately. Since 1982, when the ear mold laboratory was started, services have diversified and increased and help meet the needs in Jordan as well as other Middle East countries. H.E.A.R. provides assessment, diagnostic and counselling services and sells and repairs hearing aids at affordable prices.
SIGN LANGUAGE - This department gives a variety of training courses in Jordanian Sign Language to mostly hearing people in Salt and around the country. Trainees include teachers and volunteers at the HLID and other centres as well as parents and families of deaf children and community members.
DEAFBLIND - For years the Institute has been aware of the tremendous need of deafblind people and their families. The Deafblind Unit started in 2001 and is the only such facility in the Arab Middle East providing hope and empowerment to them. The unit provides rehabilitation, education, training and care facilities to deafblind.children and their families.
S.T.R.I.D.E. – (Salt Training & Resource Institute for Disability, Etc.) - aims to increase services for deaf and disabled people through cross-disability training programmes (especially training of teachers and technicians) and the development of cross-disability rehabilitation and educational resources in the Arabic language.
OUTREACH – Community Based Rehabilitation services endeavor to make use of local clinics and schools in order to encourage the integration of disabled children to the greatest possible extent. The training of local teachers in regular schools for inclusive education forms part of the CBR approach. The programmes make extensive use of volunteers who are trained by specialist workers.
BEIT SALEEM – Community center in Jofeh by the Dead Sea. The center provides vocational training and employment as well as other services for people with sensory, physical and intellectual impairments in collaboration with their non-disabled peers. It works towards the fuller integration and particpation in their local communities.
