On 19th November 2016, Archbishop Suheil ordained the Reverend David Roche to the priesthood at a wonderful service at All Saints Church, Beirut. The Archbishop preached reflecting on the importance of prayer in the life of the priest and for Christians. Also present were: the Reverend Imad Zoorob (vicar of All Saints), the Very Reverend Hosam Naoum (Dean of St George's Cathedral), the Reverend Canon Fuad Dagher (Canon for Reconciliation in the Diocese of Jerusalem), the Reverend Canon Victor Diab, and the Reverend Canon David Longe (Chaplain to the Archbishop).

On the 17th of November 2016, Archbishop Suheil accompanied by representatives of the Diocese of Jerusalem, Mrs Shafeeqa Dawani, Dean Hosam Naom (Dean of St George’s Cathedral), Canon Fuad Dagher (Canon for Reconciliation); Canon David Longe (Chaplain to the Archbishop) and Deacon David and Amy Roche attended St. Luke’s Centre in Lebanon for the opening of the renovated dormitories. The Reverend Imad welcomed all present thanking Engineer and Mrs Shaer for their special contribution and donation which enabled the dormitories to be removed. Reverend Imad in his opening speech, spoke of the family of St. Luke's, thanking all for their love and care and spoke on the Good Samaritan story. After the opening prayer, the Archbishop opened the new dormitories with Engineer Talal & Mrs. Maha Shaer Mrs. Marina, the wife of Deputy Ghassan Moukheiber, and representatives of the Mayor of Beit Mary (the region where St Luke’s is located in the hills above Beirut), attorney Roy Abu Shdeed, the Priest of Mar Sasin Church of Beit Mary, Municipal Mr Shaaya Madi, , Rev. Dr. Edghar Trabulsi, and members of St. Luke's board. The Archbishop thanks Engineer Tala and Mrs Shaer for their kindness and support towards St Luke’s. Following the opening of the dormitories, the children sang beautifully and movingly to all the guests and many of the parents who were present. There was a short film to music that showing the process of renovation - ‘before and after’. In conclusion there was a reception which not only included the cutting of a large cake but also eating some of the chocolates made at St Luke’s and other delicious treats.

The Diocese met together for the annual Majma (Diocesan Synod) in Amman, Jordan, on 15th and 16th November 2016. The meeting was opened by His Grace, The Most Reverend Suheil Dawani, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem in which he reflected on the ministry of John-the-Baptist. The Archbishop asked that the Diocese reflected on John-the-Baptist for the forthcoming church year. Meditations during the synod were led by the Reverend Hanna Dalley, and the Most Reverend Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough. Among those present were many friends of the Diocese including Archbishop Michael, Catherine Chapman (representing the Diocese of Ottawa and the Right Reverend John Chapman), the Reverend Uwe Graebe of EMS, Endicott Peabody of the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, The Reverend Andrew Bowerman (Anglican Alliance), Mr Geoff Bowerman (father of Reverend Bowerman). ORDINATION OF REVEREND FARES NAOUM AND REVEREND JAMIL KHADER On 14th November 2016, Archbishop Suheil ordained to the priesthood Reverend Jamil Khader and Reverend Fares Naoum in a wonderful service at Theodore Schneller Chapel. The Most Reverend Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough preached. The service was followed by a reception.

On Sunday 6th November 2016, Archbishop Suheil presided; the Bishop of Worcester, the Right Reverend John Inge preached; and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham (UK), the Most Reverend Bernard Longley gave a short welcome speech. Archbishop Bernand and Bishop John are leading an Ecumenical Pilgrimage from the UK to the Holy Land.

On Friday, 4th November 2016, the Archbishop met with pilgrims from the Soveriegn Military Order Temple of Jerusalem and the Grand Prior, Chev. Patrick Michael Carney, GCTJ, GMTJ kindly presented the Archbishop with a donation of $15,000 to the work of the Diocese. For many years the Order has supported many scholarships for students in the Diocese.

We are delighted to announce the winners of Archbishop Suheil Dawani's 2016 Christmas Card Competition for the kindergarten. There were over 200 entries of an extraordinarily high standard and selecting winners was not easy at all. However, after much reflection the winners are “Jude Aldana “ Arab Evangelical Kindergarten, Ramallah and “ Qais Fadi Jamil Qiqiah” Ahliyyah and Bishop Kindergarten, Amman. The Archbishop congratulates and thanks all participants. Qais and Jude will soon receive a prize for their entry.
