St. George’s Pilgrim Guest House is located several blocks outside the northern gates of the Old City. Despite its close proximity to the US Consulate and American Colony Hotel, the Muslim Quarter’s busy ‘suq’, (open-air market) and to several hundred young students from St. George’s School across the street, the Pilgrim Guest House remains a quiet oasis for the Holy Land traveler.
Being located on the Close of the Cathedral of St. George the Martyr, it is also close to the many activities occurring at the Cathedral. Many of the guests are religious pilgrims (as opposed to tourists) and many are there to learn of, or interact with, Palestinian Christians. It is a window. People come here to get to know the Living Stones, the indigenous Palestinian Christians. Jeries Arbeed, assistant manager of St. George's Guest House, noted that most of those who continue to stay “come especially to help the Palestinian people."
