Welcome from Archbishop Suheil, 14th Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem

Welcome to the website of the Diocese of Jerusalem. I hope you will find it informative and interesting and I encourage you to engage with our work and mission here in the Middle East.

The Diocese of Jerusalem covers five countries and is home to almost thirty parishes. Our healthcare and education ministries are active and growing across the region with the provision of hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and schools. Alongside these ministries the Diocesan Peace and Reconciliation department continues to work at strengthening the interfaith dialogue with our fellow Jews and Muslims. Our Kids4Peace programme in turn strives to educate the next generation in a language of tolerance and acceptance.

Today, Archbishop Suheil met with the Mayor of Bethlehem to discuss building a World Anglican Center on a property owned by the Diocese near Manger Square off of Milk Grotto Way. In the early years of our missionary partnership with the Lutheran Church, it was agreed that the Lutherans would minister in the areas south of Jerusalem, and the Anglicans in the north. For this reason, the Diocese of Jerusalem currently does not have any ministries in Bethlehem. This planned Anglican Center would be first. So please keep its eventual construction in your prayers, as there are still many obstacles to overcome.
